FPSO A-Frame

Modec engaged AME to supply an infield solution that would reduce vessel downtime and prevent shipyard costs.

Project Profile:

Client:
Modec
Location:
Modec Venture 11
Project Duration:
7 weeks
Scope:
Design and installation services

Project Summary:

As a result of unplanned maintenance requirements onboard the Modec Venture 11(Mutineer/Exeter DTM FPSO), the facility’s upper and lower production swivels and medium voltage electrical swivel, required removal from the turret assembly. Normally, this task would be completed alongside utilising shore side cranage. Instead, Modec engaged AME to supply an infield solution.

AME progressed the conceptual development, engineering and fabrication simultaneously, in order to meet a very ambitious schedule.

The success of the project hinged around AME’s ability to design and install a system while on location, without any hot work and without interruption to vessel production.

AME’s solution comprised a 35Te capacity modular A-frame, with a 27m reach, that could pick up off deck and luff down, to offload onto a cargo barge.

The project was completed safely, efficiently and ahead of schedule; showcasing the practical, dynamic approach that makes AME the market leader in fast track solutions for the offshore market.

The scope included:

  • Vessel motion and structural analysis
  • Design and fabrication of equipment
  • Design and supply of specialised rigging
  • Installation, operation and removal procedure development, planning and offshore execution
